Ambience Cutter
Ambience Cutter is a Pro Tools AAX plug-in designed for film and television sound editors. It automates one of the most repetitive tasks in post-production: replicating the edit structure of a reference track across multiple ambience layers.
Make a timeline selection, press Scan, press Execute. That’s it.
What it does:
- Reads all clip boundaries within the selection
- Replicates the exact cut structure onto a new ambience region
- Adds standard fade-in/fade-out handles at clip boundaries (+1 or +2 frame modes)
- Snaps a sequence of clips onto memory location markers within the selection
Built by a working sound editor for real post-production sessions. The standalone version has been used on professional film and TV projects and performs reliably on complex sessions with demanding timelines.
Current version: Beta — Windows / macOS AAX version: Available inside Pro Tools Developer Edition — full release scheduled after July 2026.
